I assume these are for the soft top however the only original photos of my jeep has the hard top on. I can see the back of the tub and the mounts are absent but as for the holes in the tub side, are they original to every tub of my yr even if the rear brackets are absent ?

As I understand it, the rear ones outside the tub were optional. The side rail ones behind the seats were on all of them. Used for the bows for tops back in the day, but modern tops come with their own bow arrangements.

I believe the rear top bow brackets were used on all CJ's from 1946 through around 1966 when they were discontinued. Only the first couple years of the CJ5 utilized them, and pretty much by the 1960's, soft top designs went to a scissors style bow arrangement where they were not needed. It took Kaiser a few more years to eliminate them.
I have seen early '66s with them, and later '66s without them. It would be interesting to document when they disappeared. Your '67 is correct without them.
Does your donor tub have the battery box cover on the cowl ahead of the windshield (pass side)? That was discontinued sometime around 1963/64.

I've decided I like the look of the early canvas tops, to include the bows, instead of the later scissors type. So I added the bow mounts and footman loops to my '69. Even without the canvas it looks more "Jeeply".

Found a local upholsterer who has a great rep for restoring convertible tops on classic cars, as well as the seats, and once I get the bows modified to fit properly I plan to visit him.

The only bows you can order are for the CJ3, so they end up having short rods and the rear bow sits too low relative to the front bow. I need to add about an 1 1/4 inch extension to both for that perfect fit. It all has to be custom fit to some degree as most Jeeps aren't absolutely perfect in their dimensions. Mine is off a half inch here, 1/4 inch there. I have to fab some other stuff, too, but one step at a time...

Don't lose those little springy clips on the side of the body. Those were for holding down the sides of the canvas tops. They had a horizontal bar at the bottom that fit in the clip instead of having snaps holding the sides down. Someone might want those clips. ;)
