we all know there are lots of opinions on fender well mounted rollbars, I for one, think they do provide a margin of safety if mounted properly to a solid tub.

So I picked up a new 3b for my project, it's got a lot of good work done on it, but the rollbar is not the case. The fit and finish we all fine, just would hate to see what happens in a roll.

I know, when I first looked at it quickly, I thought, cool, they ran the tube right down through the tub to the frame...it was not till I saw it the next day in the light, and was like :0

Even my 5th grade engineering students would've known better. Good thing you're fixing it. Very scary indeed.

The last pic is sort of how I set mine up with the end caps and bolts welded from the inside. I did not mount that to the body however, they go through the body to 2" .125 wall square tube "ears" welded to the frame, in six places. It allows me to remove 6 nuts and lift the entire cage straight up and out of the jeep, but still retains plenty of strength..

Maybe it was designed to break away and keep the occupants safe inside.

    Doubt it.

Let me guess.... The harness is attached to the cage, and the seats are attached the tub still? So in the event of an accident, not only will the cage rip away from the tub, the harness will most likely take important parts of the occupant with it when it goes... Any chance of survival pretty much goes out the window when at a minimum the harness breaks your neck, and worst case takes your head with it.
