Well, I have literally hundreds of digital pics now, and she's all the way down to the frame. Anything not welded/riveted is off.

I am looking at POR15 for the frame...

    Question 1:
    Anyone used it?

The frame is in pretty darned good condition (was garaged and not running since approx. 1975) theres mostly just surface rust (except the back end where there is a reinforcement piece that was bolted metal to metal... must have been a moisture trap.

Should I media blast? or just wirewheel, and use the POR degreasers, prep and paint?

    Question 2:
What color were these frames originally? Were they painted at all? Gloss, semigloss, flat? I can't tell. Looks like the front bumper is glossy in the Renegade advert. (the one with the girl with the go-go boots).

I will post a link to photos a little later.

    thanks,

Try a search on the POR15. There have been a few discussions on it.

I am a wire wheel man myself. It's way cheaper and I have a couple of them laying around. Media blasting would do a better job, I'm sure. It's all about the budget...

I will be using an Eastwood equivalent product on my frame in about 8-10 days called Rust encapsulator, it is said to cure easier and faster and has the same reputation as the POR15 otherwise. I will post pictures when done and time how long it takes to cure. I am looking to have my frame blasted, I was going to wheel it but found an older retired gentleman that will do my frame for cheap and I have seen a few things he's done and he did a good job. I purchased black chassis paint from Eastwood in Aerosol cans.

So does the Eastwood product need a topcoat to prevent UV damage like POR15 does?

Don't believe so. That's part of what makes it more attractive than POR15.

Nope it doesn't need a top coat but I wanted to put a duller finish then the gloss black of the Rust Encapsulator.
