    You mean a T-98? If it's a Jeep CJ-5 T-98, you need the plate adapter between the bell housing and the transmission. The T-90 and the T-98 use the same bell housing with the F134.

    You will need to change the transmission mount, modify the floors, change the lengths of the propeller shafts, change the speedometer cable. And likely other issues that I've overlooked.

    so , i can take my actual bell housing on my t90 and put it on the t98

    floor = ok

    mounts = ok

    propeller shaft : ok , i ve missed to say that there is one on the transfer . so i need to find the other one . is it easy to find ????

    this swap , is it a good idea or no ????

    The bell housing is the same, T-90 or T-98.

    You must have the adapter.

    No, none of the T-98 parts are easy to find. You will have to have your propeller shaft modified, or a custom part made.

    Only you can decide that.

    I have the T-98 in mine. It is a boat anchor. I think the thing is totally indestructible, as it was originally used in 2-ton trucks, but that first gear is amazing for power at low rpm's. I forget the ratio, but it is like 6.38 to one and reverse is 7.-- to one. I rarely use first gear when driving on the street. I start out in second. The gearing is so low that nobody can touch me in a 0-7mph run. (LOL!)

    You cannot shift the tranny fast, even though it has synchromesh in all gears but 1st, and if you are downshifting, there is a pretty good jump between second and first, so you need to get used to double clutching it.

    I like the tranny, but if anything ever goes wrong with it, like Tim above said, I am afraid it will be very hard to find parts for it. I haven't found a rubber boot for it. I put one from a T-90 on it, and it tore in a very short time. The throw is much longer than the T-90, from what I have been able to establish.

    I am looking at possibly changing out the engine and drivetrain, but haven't run across anything I like yet. If I do and you want the one I pull, I will let you know. I rebuilt the D-18 and put new seals, gaskets on the tranny and D-18. The D-18 is one with the largest intermediate shaft, so that is a plus, too.

    Later...
