Chevy engine, Ford T18 with Ford clutch disk in Chevy pressure plate. 1980 Jeep master cyl. Novak 3/4" slave cyl. Could not get the clutch to release, thought it was lack of travel, changed the linkage , no improvement. Finally noticed it would release a little (not enough to get in gear) with the pedal half way down??? So tore it all apart. Found that the hub of the Ford clutch disc is .125" longer than the Chevy on the pressure plate side so just as the clutch was about to release the throw out bearing hit the hub pushing the disk against the flywheel. Put the disk in the lathe and cut the hub back .125" then put the whole thing flywheel and all in the press to check finger travel and release. Worked perfectly, .035" air gap and plenty of clearance to the disc. This has been a hair puling ordeal but I got it now. If you are using a Ford disc in a Chevy clutch check the hub to make sure it is not longer than the Chevy, otherwise you are going to have a bald spot like mine...

Great that you figured it out. i had a very similar issue with the hub on my clutch disk and had to cut it back on a lathe as well. Hair pulling experience! Great work.
