Need some help on this one. Got a new frame, new OEM glass, new windshield seal and new cowl gasket. The windshield seal is not continuous and has a weird locking strip on it. I can't seem to get the seal to stay on the glass long enough to even attempt getting it to lip up on the frame. What's the trick? Do you glue the seal to the glass first? What do you do about the seam left in the seal where they meet... seems this would be leaky? I am aware that you can 'one man' this if you get the seal on the glass and then lay the frame on the glass. Any help or tips would be most appreciated.

You put the seal onto the frame. Spray heavily with glass cleaner like an aerosol can of sprayaway. Put the glass into the seal. Use a lock strip tool to insert the strip. Dont line up the end of the lock strip with the end of the gasket, start it about a foot away form the seam so it won't leak. Easy peasy.

    Daryl,

    What about using cord?

Different type of seal uses rope. Lock strip is super easy on flat glass.
Disclaimer : the easiest way to break a piece of flat glass is to try and reuse an old gasket. Hint: never reuse a rubber.

Okay, need more details. Do you put the frame on the glass with the exterior side of the frame facing down toward the glass or do you put the frame face down and put the glass on top, attempting to put the glass in from the backside? Also, I've done this before on Porsche 911, VW Beetle, Toyota pickup, and have used the cord method. This one just doesn't make much sense to me. I managed to get the thing about half in while having the frame facing down, seal in the frame, and glass being pushed from the inside (cabin) side of the frame.

what has been said above , but due to being a aftermarket frame . the first thing would do is make sure the glass fits the frame without the gasket with about 1/8" gap all the way around the glass
