The muncie 4 speed finally bit the dust in my 66 CJ5 with a chevy 350.
I wanted to get rid of the side linkage and go with a top loader anyway so this might be a good thing. Somebody in the local 4wd club has offered me the below and I need to know if it will work in my setup.... I have heard the SM465 might be to long for the cj5.

" I also have a spare transmission in the garage that can go to. The
adapter is an Advanced Adapter brand. Its the short version of the
adapter, they also make a longer one. I'll sell you the flywheel/
    clutch/bellhousing/transmission with spare/300 adapter $250. I originally got it
all out of a 2wd 3/4 ton 81 chevy. The granny gear is great, I'm only
changing it out to an auto so the wife can drive it."

Grab it! Lots of folks have made the SM465 work in a CJ-5.

I am in Houston and once I pull it out you come get it and it is yours for free... well bring a six pack! lol
It still works it just jumps out of 2nd and 3rd gear when downshifting ... I don't know if it's teh tranny or the linkage but i am tired of messing with it. On the upshift it works great.
If you need it fast I can have it out by next weekend probably.

I'm curious if "300 adapter" means Dana 300 adapter. Which transfer case do you have? Either way, it's one helluva good deal!

twin stick means d18 unless its a modified d20. Check where your rear driveshaft exits and that should be the tell tell sign. If it is off to the passenger side it is a dana 18

Drive shaft does exit on the passanger side. Well the D18 work with the sm465 I mentioned in the first post without any major headaches?
Thanks for the help..... man I really need to get busy on this thing summer is almost here!

I may have missed something but it looks like a good deal and it's a great trans.
If the adapter is from sm465 to dana 300 I don't think it will work with your D18. So, you could sell it and get the adapter you need or you could get a D300 t-case and new rear end with diff in center.
    Either way would be good.
