    Hi Folks,

    1973 CJ6 with 232

Carb shows "7029S", which makes me believe it is stock and year correct, based on info here:
    7029S Carburetor Info Page

The previous owner had an after market throttle cable routed to a barrel nut on on the bottom portion of the carb (pink arrow), which "pulls" the throttle linkage towards the passenger side. (this barrel nut has 1. caused throttle cables to break in the past and 2. now has torn off the throttle linkage, similarly to when you peel a pull tab of a can of beer shown by the yellow arrow below)

I ordered the throttle cable (last pic below below) , which has a connector for the 'ball' on the linkage (green arrow).

The problem... if I route the new cable, through the existing bracket, the "pull" angle is wrong... the throttle wont open. I need to have the new cable come from below the "ball" on the linkage, and have the cable pull "down", not towards the passenger side..

    So questions...

    1. Do you think this is the stock carb?

    2. Is this the stock throttle cable bracket?

    3. Any suggestions? fab up a new bracket to position the throttle cable below the "ball connector" on the linkage?

Any pics of stock 73' 232 setups?

    Many thanks in advanced folks...

i think you are missing a ball for the lower hole on the throttle, the bracket looks right. no longer have a 232 to photograph the wife's rig will be home later 258 with a 1 bbl carb ill look at that one

thanks sterlclan... honestly, didn't even think of tracking down a ball...

got hung up on looking at other pics such as this where the cable comes from below... and it doesn't appear there is a ball on the lower portion of the assembly... :

this helps... but i guess i need to find a new linkage assembly, as the bottom hole is now 'ripped'...

    appreciate the reply
