I'm guessing it has to be the module.....now to get some epoxy to try and save the cap.

The ground wire going to the transformer (coil) metal core and the ground wire going down to the distributor frame can share the same screw. This will be good to see if the system will work. Then you will know where to go from there.

I went through this issue too on a nearly brand new distributor. My problem was the ignition module. I put in a new coil too. Extra ground as well. If you put in a mew module make sure you put heat sink paste and NOT dialectic grease that it comes with. The module gets hot and fails with the grease, the grease insulates. The heat sink paste is designed to conduct heat, not insulate. Its the same stuff used on heat sinks for CPU's.

Make sure you have continuity on that strap that goes to the coil for ground

I was going to ask if the two grounds can be on the same screw. I figured it would be.

The only item left is the module. I have it out and will make sure to use the heat sink paste.

This is a brand distributor so it pisses me off that, one the screws holding the coil were loose and two that the module has already bit the dust.

Thanks. If I get up that way in my visits to Utah, I will let you know I am going there and maybe we can do some four-wheeling. Everything I drive is a 4X4 of one kind or another...

Did you get a new cap too (because of the bad threads)?

Glad you're getting to move on.

I actually filled the whole with epoxy and used a different screw.
