    Hey guys,

I have searched the forum as well as Google and haven't found an answer, which I attribute to the user not knowing the proper terminology to describe the issue.

Anyway...I finally got the power steering pump hooked up and bled the air from the system. While bleeding the system, I noticed that I was getting noise (a whine) when at full lock against the box. So, I backed out the bolts on the knuckle so I couldn't hit full lock.

Now, I can hit that stop, but the power steering is allowing me to push past the bolt-stop and still hit the internal lock in the box.

I assume something has to be bending or moving to allow this to happen. Is this normal or did I do something wrong?

Thanks in advance for the responses.

The steering stops on the knuckles should be adjusted so the tire doesn't hit the frame or spring at full turn. Unless you have a very short pitman arm on the box, the stops will hit before the steering box hits its internal limit. The whine that is heard is the pressure relief in the pump. This is normal as long as all the air is eliminated and only at hard over in either direction. As far as something bending, have someone turn the wheel and inspect everything for movement. I haven't done it but the steering box brace others have installed is a great idea.
