Well, I just changed the oil, pulled the plugs, filled the cylinders with Marvel Mystery Oil, and tore apart the Carter 650, with small parts sitting in Gunk carb solution.

Carb kit will be here tomorrow.

Actually pulled plugs last night, and put a wrench on crank and the motor moves freely.

Will rebuild carb on Saturday, install new fuel filter, and draw fuel from small fuel vessel.

I can't wait to hear my girl rumble again..... It's been way too long....

How long does Gunk Carb Parts Cleaner last? My gallon is about 7 years old. Do you think it's still effective?

Any advice from someone who has gone through this before will be much appreciated.

    ~Cheers~

As long as it was closed the gunk will last a long time. I use a cheap ultrasonic cleaner from harbor freight with simple green to clean carbs ( thanks for the tip Focker)

It's been a productive weekend!! Installed the rebuilt carb, cleaned out the fuel tank, replaced the fuel pump, installed 3 new freeze plugs, flushed the cooling system, and fired her up!

She actually runs pretty good for sitting for so long.

Drove her around the block several times, and it was good to be back in the saddle. I still have a long way to go, but a move in the right direction.....
