Need Dauntless Rebuilt - SW Virginia

I want to have my Dauntless rebuilt. It runs now, but want to start on restoration. Any suggestions for good engine folks around SW Virginia? Need engine pulled, rebuilt, and reinstalled.

 

I would guess you need to look around shops in your area . and see who they use as a engine rebuilder . there are a few shops here in the southside . but depending on vehicle . labor on R&R is around 800 - 1000 . plus machine shop parts and labor on rebuild . I just had a long block done . ford V6 . 2500 . and I did the R&R

 

Another option would be to check on your local Jeep/4x4 forum for recommended shops.

In terms of engine R&R, a Jeep is really easy ... are you thinking of completing this restoration yourself? If so, maybe you'd want to buy a remanufactured engine and do the installation yourself. There's nothing special about the 225 ... any local engine builder should be able to handle it. Having your engine rebuilt will be more expensive than exchanging your engine for a remanufactured one. For prices, I'd start with my local NAPA or privately owned parts store, and start shopping.

 

Here in Greeneville Tn , Alan Johnson , the pro-stock nhra driver is based here in town . The engine builder for him is here in town and builds for individuals. I would use him myself if i ever needed an engine built . Be screaming V-6 or a great stock build .
