T14 shift rail caps. Where to buy?

Where can I get the shift rail caps for a T14? The T90 caps are not the same. I tried all the usual suppliers.

 

Have you tried crossing the parts with the later T15 transmission? Just a guess and maybe worth a shot as they are similar transmissions. Failing that, perhaps you could fab something out of a plumbing pipe cap of the correct size. Maybe a small freeze plug for en engine?

 

What do these plugs look like? Are they cup plugs, like automotive "freeze" plugs? Are they dish plugs, like other "freeze" plugs?

I know that new dish-type rail plugs came in the rebuild kit for my T-18 shift top. That kit is availale from PartsMike. I don't know of any shift top kit for a T-14 or T-15, but they may exist. You could try PartsMike, or Herm the Overdrive Guy. Herm sells rebuilt T-14s and T-15s and may have a source.

The other possibility if one of the online hardware suppliers. like McMaster-Carr or MSC. I looked at McMaster, and they did not have anything like those plugs, but they may have something else that you can adapt.

Another possibility is to make them. I wold try to hammer-form them. Make a punch and die, and stamp them out. You only need 2 (?) of them, so you could spend a little time trimming and trying and trimming and trying. Put them in with a little Permatex #2.

 

They are the exact same as those on the T-15

 

Tim. They are the cup type. The T-18 has the dish type

 

I'll look in garage tomorrow , I should have a top for a T14 . maybe I can get plugs out
