    Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone here has put 11" brakes off of a CJ5 on a Willys pickup truck with a Dana 53 rear end/

I have some brakes off a model 53 rear that I was trying to sell, thinking someone could use them on their cj. I was told that the axle shaft taper is different on the model 53 vs the model 44 axles. I suppose the backing plates and hardware would all work but, the hub/drum assembly apparently will not. If you could swap the axle hubs, you might make it work but, that's some work that often results in destroyed drums. I'm told it can be done with the right tools and some patience.

So the trucks all had 11" brakes to begin with (manual adjustment). Later self adjusting backing plates could be a worthwhile upgrade I suppose. You could continue using the earlier inboard mount drums.
