FLUSH MOUNT LED tail lights

I just picked up a 1962 cj5. It has flush mounted LED tail lights, they work when the turn signal switch is engaged in the "hazard" location (all the way at the top) sometimes they work left. I highly doubt I have tail lights ever, I have a pressure switch activated tail light system ( assuming this is stock set up on driver side frame rail in engine compartment)

I did a little search but found nothing searching "LED" or "LED FLUSH MOUNT"

Im sure people have used these before, they are the 3 inch rounch LED's most likely from a trailer or some other implement. I did not install them, but I am under the assumption that they are not pulling enough current to actuate the brakes/tail/Turn signals. (wiring is a typical used jeep mess) I am just getting this back on the road and want to get it more legal and use less hand signals. Any suggestions on where to start?

 

get a multimeter or even a test light to see if you have current at the tail light. check for good grounds.

 

Grounds were my issue with bulbs doing basically the same thing you are describing..

 

im going to look into the switch itself, cause who knows, obviously the lights work and are wired cause the hazards work...and I have tail lights.. my thought, clean up the throws on the switch and bleed brakes and or replace switch on the lines....

The running lights should work even with leds. The problem is the stock flasher relay needs the right load or it doesn't work right. I bought a led flasher relay cheap on ebay and the signals work correctly. I would check all the wiring and connections and install a led flasher relay.

 

but since my hazards work, and flash, rears (LED) and Fronts (STD) I would think the relay should be good, unless the current drawn by all four coming on, is greater than just left or right.... that's why I think its possible that its in the lever/switch.... or am I thinking too hard? I should have time this weekend to pull it apart and clean the contacts internally, if that don't do it.. Relay it is...
