When I bought this '75 the seller told me it had a small lift but didn't seem to know for sure. I know that there is no body lift and the shackles are stock. I need to get new tires. These are very old bias plys and the beads are in poor shape. I'm try to figure if I can fit 33x12.5s. In this pic the tire height is at 29-29.5" and about 23" to the rocker panel. Does anyone have an idea if this is lifted or not. It looks to me like it has a couple of inches. Also, is this antenna mount factory? It looks like it is to me but can't find any info on them. Thanks. [IMG][IMG]

Think that jeep would look great with 31x10.5 inch tires. If really want to try 33s, then maybe 33x10.5 instead of 33x12.5. 32x11.5 might also be a sweet option although fewer and fewer options in that size these days.

33x12.5 will rub without trimming the fenders with 3 inches of lift 31x10.5 is a better choice

Good pictures of the springs would help.

These Jeeps came from the factory with standard or optional "heavy duty" suspension. The HD suspension option could be considered a lift compared to the standard equipment. We can likely rule out factory springs from a couple of good pics.

Sort of hard to tell, when was the lift done? Yep, the antenna mount is from a CB radio. Looks like a 2" or 3" lift. I've done everything I need to do on 31" tires. Other wise you tend to just chew up parts.

Based on body position in relation to the top of the wheels I would think you have approximately 2.5". I have a supposedly 3" lift and rub the rear fender just a little bit with my 33x12.5x15 tires. I also have only 2.5" setback on the tires so they stick out just a little bit too.

Here are some pics. I think I will start looking at 31s and 32s. I don't need to ad clearance issues to my list of problems. Thanks for the help.

Aftermarket. Maybe Rancho? Not sure ... I think those thick leaves are characteristic of Rancho.

I would measure the distance between the shock pins and the collapsed length of your shocks. The axle should hit the bump stop before the shock is fully collapsed. You probably want to lower your bump stops a little. There should be one or two factory spacers already under the front passenger side bump stop.

Also, if I can hijack my own thread, my radiator sprouted a giant leak today. What would be my best option for replacement. Thanks.

Mmm. For my CJ-6, I just bought an all-brass replacement from RockAuto. You could also try your local parts store. Radiators are a commodity item today. Most radiator shops don't repair radiators any more.

Note that most radiators now have plastic tanks and aluminum cores. If you want a brass replacement, you may have to search a while.

If you can find a shop that repairs or recores radiators, you can get a new core with more rows. it will probably cost twice as much as the commodity radiator.

An aluminum radiator from eBay might be another option. http://www.ebay.com/bhp/jeep-cj-aluminum-radiator

Just an interesting note...Looks like from the pics that the springs are a bit short - that is to say that the front shackles angle back towards the axle instead of out front. The springs may have been arched for some additional lift at some point but it shortens the eye to eye straight line distance. WOndering if they may have been stock height or something like a 1" lift and have had the lift increased. Doesn't really answer your question....and also not sure that its a big problem per se....might cause some unusual handling issues, but I've been dealing with the same issue on mine since I got it and have been holding out on buying new springs due to expense.

Turns out that I know someone in the radiator business. Looks like I got it covered. I am considering Holbrook springs somewhere down the line. I think though that I will make my abundance of oil leaks a priority. Thanks for the advise.
