I was wondering if anyone has used the JKS body Lift.

I assumed this would work on my 67, but feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

My jeep currently has a body lift of unknown origin. They are tapered rubber pucks that are ~2.5 inches thick(I will snap a picture tonight). They were on the jeep when I got it.

If the JKS ones won't work, I also have looked at using the M.O.R.E. spacer with a urethane bushing.

Further, has anyone ever doubled up the urethane bushings or is this crazy talk?

    Thanks in advance!

Can I ask why? Your sig line says your current body lift is 1". The new ones are 1 1/4". Are you doing this for 1/4" more lift?

I'm not sure about the application working, but a block is a block. As long as there are enough pieces (and your body is in good enough shape to support itself on stilts), it should work. Count how many you have in-use currently and compare it to the kit.

These jeeps are difficult/impractical to do body lifts on because the steering, clutch and brakes go through the floor. I see you have power steering and brake and clutch upgrades, so it might be a non-issue for you if you went with swinging pedals and u-joints in your steering shaft.

Hang on a second...aren't you supposed to be working on or driving something across the country? I have been glued to videos on Line MT racing because of your post. Thanks for opening my eyes to a whole new world.

Anyway, I guessed at the body lift. Looking at specifications for the replacement lifts, it might be more like 2 inches. I never questioned or second guessed the body lift I have, and If it is in fact 2" I will lower it so it is ~1-1.25". The body is in good shape, but that shouldn't matter because the contact points remain the same regardless of lift involved.

I did upgrade to swinging pedals and my steering shaft has u-joints, so changing the lift amount shouldn't make too much of a difference there.

Thanks for the response. Your answer of "a block is a block" helped solidify my thinking.

    Haha
Nine days... I'm trying desperately to take my mind off that upcoming doom! I'm seriously starting to panic. It doesn't help with my dad calling me every morning with updates on something else he noticed when he walked by it, and what a hack-job it is. I seriously hope I can get it running, nonetheless moving and stopping. In one day.

Line Mt definitely isn't what it used to be. The "rock racers" found out about it and brought desert-racing technology into it. Before that, it was how much you could do with an old jeep, leaf springs and chicken wire. Now it's being over-run with 4-link suspensions, triple bypass shocks and pneumatic bump-stops. Sorta took the charm out of it. Here's their website if you haven't yet stumbled on it: http://www.lm4w.org The real excitement is in the campground. Apparently, 2 local girls got into a fight last September and one stabbed the other in the abdomen. I remember once in the mid-90's the National Guard was called up there to calm things down. After that they stopped bringing in outside entertainment. Good times! Those coal miners know how to party!

I guess I've never seen a 5 with the body supports and hat channel in good enough shape to support a body lift, so I've never taken the concept too seriously. Everything I've ever owned, a body lift would have just poked through the floors.

Well I am glad that someone is amused...;)

Here is a picture of the mounts that came on the jeep when I got it:

    [IMG][/IMG]

I have no idea what these are from or who makes them. However, I did dig around a spare parts box and I think I found some old rubber bushings from a parts jeep I had years ago. Here is how they compare:

    [IMG][/IMG]

According to the spare parts bushing/mount, it looks like I do have ~1" of body lift.

To circle back to my original question and add to it, I am trying to figure out how to replace these mystery mounts with new ones. I don't want more lift than I currently have and wouldn't mind if I dropped it a little. This is why I am curious if I can run two urethane mounts stacked on each other.

I read that they are ~5/8" thick, and if that is stock height, then I would get 5/8" of lift, which sounds good to me.

So, has anyone ever stacked these? And, could there be any reason (aside from you don't like body lifts) that this wouldn't work?

    Thanks!

Seems like your over-thinking the application of a body mount...........use whatever you need or like to gain clearance or help the ride. Factory 1966 mounts were a flat piece of rubber about a 1/4"-3/8" thick that resembled a piece of rubber tire.......If you have had the Jeep for any length of time I'm sure you have already figured out that it rides like solid suspension..........There is a number of mounts in different thickness's and different hardness's on the market , that will allow you many choices.........obviously someone thought they needed the extra thickness for whatever the reason.........extra height body mounts will effect body clearance at the shifter , clutch linkage and steering column as they pass through the body. More modern mounting systems use a rubber pad at both the top and bottom to further cushion the ride.

You can use the MORE system of AL blocks and pads. I have in the past and have one on my '51. I use them until I rebuild the mounts on the frame to do a body lift so the V6 clears better in the flatties.

It's just a block - little cushion is better than they came from the factory with.
