Getting ready to start replacing metal on my CJ6. Floor pans are shot and so is the rocker panels. Since the floor pans on a 1964 are basically flat stock with a few bends, figure on fabing them myself. Problem is I'm not sure how big of a lip I need on the floor pans. What I need is the measurement from the bottom of the floor pan to the top of the lip on the rocker panel. Not sure if it is suppose to be 0.5", 0.75", or something else.

It's not that I don't want to help...I'm just not sure what spot you're asking about? Any pix of your "shot" pans and the area in question?

On my 73 the outboard downward fold of floor pan is about 3/8" or so, no more than 1/2". The floor pan fold doesn't extend fully to bottom lip of rocker though. That distance can best be set by ensuring clearance for hat channel between bottom of floor pan and rolled lip of rocker.

I used panels from Classic Enterprises and have been happy with results. Used L&R floor panels and hat channels, transition step, rear hat channel, and back panel (not tailgate) . The panels save me precious time and I'm not a sheet metal fab guy so makes sense for me.

Could you measure the distance from the bottom of the pan to the lip of the rocker. Planning to build my own floor pans and hat channels. My floors measure anywhere from 0.5" to over 1" from the lip of the rocker.

Hat channels are 1" deep, the channel bottoms are pretty much flush with the bottom of the rocker panel so the bottom of the floors should be 1" up from the lip. The rolled edges of the floor pans do net extend all the the way to the bottom of the rocker edge- they're only 1/2" or so.

I'd really consider the hat channel kits from Classic Enterprises if I were you, there's some funky bends to get everything where it belongs.

Thanks, going to have to make my own hat channels as I am doing a Frankenstein build, 1964 CJ6 tub on a 1981 CJ8 frame.
