I don't understand all, but if you want to use your Jeep calmly, a radial tyre with a tube is a good idea.

I have of course tubes in my old tyres, they are not radial.

You should choose 'high' tyres, not too wide.

High = size between the ground and the rim.

The advantage is that your Jeep is softer when you ride, more comfortable!

Non radial tires like mine are very hard and you feel it!

If you get standard Jeep steel rims and a good supplier for tires, you will find the solution.

Metric tire sizes are easy to convert, starting with a 215 75 16. Take the section width which is the first number such as 215 and divide by 25.4 which converts mm to inches. 215/25.4=8.465 or 8 1/2" between the sidewalls, not tread width. Take the next number which is the aspect ratio in percentage. This is the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the section width. 8.465*.75=6.35. This is the height of one side of the tire. Multiply times 2 and add to the rim diameter: 12.7+16=28.7" approximate tire height.

I have a set of 235 75 R15 BF Goodrich Mud/Terrain on reversed 8" ford rims. Seem to work well. They are about 29" high and I didn't want much taller as my gears are 427s.

Have you got a picture of them? I'd like to see how they look on that size wheels.

We've been through this many times before. If you'd like to discuss or lobby for a change, there is a "Page and Forum Discussion" area for that.

Quick update: I really wanted to go narrow, but couldn't justify the expense of a 6 or 7 inch wide tire for what this jeep will be used for. So I picked up a set of 235/75R15s for a good price. I'd scoured craigslist and other sources for some original steel wheels, but couldn't find anything that wasn't a full day's drive away, or outrageously expensive. I bought a set of 15x7 spoked rims from Quadretec. The garage down the road mounted and balanced them this afternoon. I'll stick them on the jeep this evening when my daughter gets home to watch.
