'71 F-134 Electrical Gremlins

    Ummmm, generator on a '71? I would think it is an alternator. Check out your wires to be sure you have good connections before you mess too much more with it. /

    Cleaned the rotor and brushes as well as the brush holders for 40% more slide action and - wala - it now works like a champ.

    Yes, I was a little befuddled by the gen being in a '71 as well, but there it is with correct bracket, regulator and wiring harness. Maybe it was standard on the F-134 until the phase out in '72?

    My 67 came with an alternator. I also have a 1964 or 1965 advertisement that says the motorola 35a alternator was standard equipment.

    Pretty sure the alternator would be standard with the generator optional maybe? Always the chance it's an older engine of course. I know my '69 had the air pump, I would imagine a '71 would have too. Does the exhaust manifold have any kind of plugs or air lines in it?

    Yes, air injectors have been plugged and the two longer head bolts that secured the pump mount are still there and shimmed.
