I'm reassembling my transfer case and it's binding up.
I think the problem is in the front bearing cap but I can't get it off.
Seems like the high/low shift shaft is jammed up on the little interlock/ bullet pin that sits between the two shafts.

Has anybody ran into this? What am I doing wrong??

It's catching up on that damn interlock pin.
Think I'll toss that aside after I get it apart and reassemble it again.

We've probably all been there with it getting caught like that.

Sad part is I had initially forgotten to put the pin in then took it apart and put it in.
Any thoughts on getting it loose or is this one of those just mess with it until it pops free or I lose my patience deals?

Have the manual... not working out as it should.
Part of my rebuild was switching to a twin stick from Herm.
Wondering if that's part of my problem. When I assembled it without the interlock everything worked as it should.
Once I put the pin in the FWD wouldn't disengage and the big sliding gear wouldn't go all the way back.
    Now it doesn't come apart.

I also noticed the the high/low shift lever isn't long enough to reach the slot in the shift rod. But I think that's a seperate issue

    Well that really sucked.
Ended up pulling the output shaft but it really didn't want to come out after all the whacking and finagling the front bushing decided to get stuck in the yoke shaft.
Ended up Mickey mousing two wheel pullers and a slide hammer together and giving it hell.
I knew it was a bad plan but it worked without any damage.

I remember doing this for a living, definatly a proper order to do things. At least it looks like you had a few beers there to calm yourself.

The couple beers helped with the brainstorming sessions...and gave me the right attitude to pull that slidehammer trick. Thought for sure I was going to destroy the case. Only thing that got wrecked was an oil seal that I should have waited to put in anyway.
Back to square one now and that damn interlock
pin will never be seen again.
