how many quarts of oil

    how many quarts of oil will it take to fill my transmission an rear end? its a 71 cj5 with a 3 speed?

    FSM states 2.5 pints for both the 3 speed transmissions (T90, T86, T14) and front/rear axles.

    Sort of but both must be filled separately. 3.25 pints in the D18.

    FYI, IMO, those volumes should be considered as estimates. As you probably know, fill transmission, transfercase, and rear axle to bottom of fill plug. I usually leave the front axle down about 3/8" to decrease the chance of leakage to the knuckles but doubt that really does any good. A non-issue with an open knuckle axle.
