Well got half a block from my house, and my oil light came on. Checking the oil it was very high, thin and smelled of gas. I changed the oil and next day got a new fuel pump. Yay everything was great. Went for a 15 mile drive and when I stopped at my destination(to get new tires installed) the oil light came on. I noticed if I gave it any gas the light went off. It did this driving home. I got the jeep home and got a oil pump repair kit. I plan to do that this next week. Is that my problem or do I got a bigger problem going on. Oh fuel pump fixed the fuel in the oil problem. And the oil pump rebuild kit came with several different springs, how will I know which lb spring to use? or will it be obvious when I get it apart.

Figure someone will ring in with advice. :v6:

"High thin and smelled of gas..."

Running on thinned out oil/gasoline mix may have caused some bearing wear, thus low oil pressure.

I had something similar happen on a Ford 302 engine. It was fuel injected, but the pressure regulator was a simple diaphragm which had intake manifold vacuum on one side and fuel pump pressure on the other side. So you can imagine what happened when the diaphragm started getting holes in it. The vacuum in the intake manifold would suck gas directly into each cylinder. The computer did its best to correct this condition, but after a while, it couldn't do anything more. Until it got to the point where it actually fully ruptured, I had the same issue. At idle my oil pressure light would sometimes blink on and off, and if I lowered the engine rpms, it would stay on steady. I didn't know what was going on until the diaphragm fully ruptured one day and then I had a straight path from my gas tank to my intake manifold. When I pulled my dipstick, I couldn't believe how high the oil level was, and like you stated, it smelled strongly of fuel. I replaced the regulator, drained out the old oil and replaced it with new, changed out the filter and the problem was gone. I then changed the new oil and filter after about a thousand miles, just to make sure. If you haven't done this, do it first and you may find that everything was ok. I pulled one of the valve covers to see if everything was ok, and you couldn't believe how clean the engine was. Gas in the oil did a good job, but it probably was not a good way to do it. Later...
