Been looking for a good used windshield frame for my 74 CJ5. Unable to find a decent one I opted for an after market omix-ada as a temporary so as not to delay the project. This thing doesn't look like it will keep water out. The front plate is just tack welded on and I can see gaps where rain will just pour through. Anybody have any experience or ideas about sealing these things up?

That's what I installed. I painted it thickly and smeared some windshield sealant into the metal joints. The soft top will cover the top front seam.

I did the same thing I bought a replacement and was real discussed with it. I welded it all the way around filled in all the holes, and welded on wedges on the bottom for marine wiper motors. I had a new glass made for it with gray tint, big mistake should have used lite green, my 70 year old eyes can't see as well thru the gray glass. If I had to pay for all the work I could not have afforded it. Good luck

Same as above. You have to do some things to it to get it to work for you. I've had mine on for 7K miles now...about 3 years worth of driving and it's good enough that I stopped looking for a good OEM frame.

Put one aftermarket too on my jeep, it's pooring water all inside.

But the worst is the wiper binding around the wiper hole. Had to cut 2" x 3" of sheet metal and weld on thicker metal to correct the situation.

I just got one. Not real impressed with it, I was thinking of using body putty on the seams

The OEM used ones are out there.............you just have to be very patient and be ready to travel or pay shipping fees...............for all you folks in the Rust Belt...........look in the Southwest States for near rust free frames. Most will still require filling some holes from several soft top installs and small patches of rust. $350 + with wiper hardware.

Use a paintable auto body seam sealer on the pinch welded seams it'll hold up a lot better than window caulk.
