To anyone who has more experience with P/S than me, which is msot of you, I have a question regarding the compatibility of certain componets. I'd like to swap the saginaw setup on my '58 most likely using a Jeep box off a cj-7 or something. My question is, would be be ideal/possible/not good to use a chevy pump? I'm running a 283 and have a pump (needs seals) and a mounting bracket that will easily fit my powerplant. Didn't know if there is any major differences in pressures/ flows or whatnot.

my 58 has a steering box IIRC came off a FSJ cheerokee and the pump is a rebuild unit for a chevy pickup. Just parts that I had on hand. Has been like that for over ten years. I always thought a saginaw pump was pretty much the same may have been some mounting differences but non come to mind.
