Hey there, im just finishing up on sm420/d20, the stock cable is no longer the proper length! Funny enough though, the stock cable will bolt up to d20 speedo port and thread on!

Question.. Would a late 1960s chevy k20 pickup and its longer cable bolt up to my CJ5s speedmeter and d20? Where speedo cables back in the day typical... just cut to standardized measurements for the big 3???
    ThanksJ

I know theres most likely a custom speedo shop... its just a lot easier ordering a stock jobby from LMC truck thanks

You are either in the wrong forum, or your Jeep has been converted to a Dana 20.

Likely the cable used with the factory T-18 will work. But you give no year/model/equipment info, so we are just guessing. Best to put that info in your sig, so that it will always accompany your posts.

No, the lengths and ends are specific to make, model and manufacturer. Speedometer cores can be cut to length, but the sheath is app specific.

I did the sm420 swap with a dana 18 and the cable was short. You need to re route it as best you can and just yank on it a little bit. I don't know if the speedo gear is in the same place on a 20

Nope in right forum...1967 as profile states :) I think that 67 inch long cable will still be like a banjo string, even with the best routing. This is why im inquiring about.. say a 1968 chevy 85 inch cable!!! Nice wide slopping bends keeps the speedometer cable happy and the speedo reading not jumpy, so anyone that can verity ia chevs compatibility with a cj speedometer would be helpful.
    thanks Jesse
