I am going to replace original suspension with a BDS kit. When I picked up the new suspension the salesman recommended replacing all the bolts with grade 8/G. Is his recommendation right? I have also seen some bolts that have a grease fitting. Should I also replace the lower shock mounting plates?

When I do a suspension swap I replace all the hardware (wearable hardware) and all U bolts can only be used ONCE based on torque. With modern poly bushings, I don't use grease-able bolts.

Shock plate - not needed to replace unless you have wear on them that indicate it. I normally go to a skid plate style when I change.

I use all grade 8 bolts - not worth the cost difference to grade 5 for me.

I like the greasable shackle bolts. If maintained, they don't wear much and let the spring pivot well. I have used them on the OME suspension on my Landcruiser FJ60 for some years. No problems IF KEPT LUBED.
