Gosh, I am trying to get the old perches off the waggie axles to make it cleaner looking, and i ground down th ewelds and the buggers dont want to budge. I got out the torch tonight and went at them and they didnt want to get cut. I got the spring monuts off, but those perches want to stay on there. Gonna try at it again this weekend. Golly. R) R)

They are tough, I used a 4 1/2 inch grinder and zip disks, Took forever..

I used a large 10 inch grinder and made quick work of them.

I can say i need a bigger hammer, i had a buddy loan me his mini sledge and still had to beat on it. Guess it will take some more grinding, i already have grinded into the tube a little and dont want to go that far, looks like i have to really destroy this perch... good thing i dont need it ;)

The short answer to your question is, yes, they are made of Kryptonite.

AND, what's worse, it isn't green, it is RED kryptonite.

As a Superman fan I'm sure you know what that means.

That helps to explain the bizarro world of old jeeps.

ooohhh noooo... no beer for me while doing this. i do not want to damage the axle and not be able to use it. Me, drinking with a hammer and torch available... equals very bad things ;)

I cut the perches off a 75 waggie that seemed to be pretty tough. Remember, the perches are welded on the inside too. You have to do alot of grinding. Even though a BFH is a lot more fun, I saw a guy rip out a chunk of the axle tube one time. You won't save the perch.
    Good Luck
