Leaf spring mounts

Have my 75 down to the frame, doing some measuring. Found that the front leaf spring hangers are 1" wider than the front rear hangers. Is that correct?

 

Jeep used a different silent block bushing, with a wider center shell, for late '74 and '75. So the shackle spacing is a little wider compared to the earlier CJs. If you find that the bushings are too narrow (as I did) I suggest you add flat washers to take up the gap.

Other than that, I'm not sure what you are claiming. The spring goes between the rear front bracket and the shackles go on the outside of the front front bracket, so they aren't going to be the same width.

 

I haven't figgered out ms paint yet, so I cant put in a drawing here, but even measuring outside of frame rails there's an inch difference frt to rear. measured above spring mounts

 

I have a 75 and measured mine just a few minutes ago. Front hanger is ~1-3/4" outside to outside. Rear stationary is ~2-1/2" outside to outside. It's exactly what Tim said.. The shackle makes up the difference.

 

If I measure from inside to inside of leaf springs, still mounted to axle, the rear of springs are narrower that the frt.

 

I just went out and measured my front springs. Both ends are the same width ~1-1/2" measured on the outer metal spring. The inner part of the spring is wider.. The front spring shackle is 1-3/4" inside, the rear hanger is like ~2" inside.
