Sitting here with a broken wing my mind is coming up with some strange ideas for n my '64. Have been figuring on using newer front fenders to gain 3" more room under the hood. But I have been looking at pictures with YJ springs and a reversal the front wheels look far back in the wheel opening that would be made worse under braking. I am now thinking of splitting the factory '64 front fenders and stretching them 3" in the middle of the wheel opening to match a newer hood.

This will give me 3" more clearance behind the front wheels, and I believe it will make wheel look more centered in the opening. Also it will retain the early reveal between the opening and firewall.

Another thing that I have been looking at it making over size rear fender flairs out of metal. I have found steel trailer fenders that are 36" in diameter that would be able to cut to a width to caver my tires and provide a large enough opening to clear 33" tires with ease.

And yes I am going to use a 104" wheelbase frame for my CJ6. Planning on a bobbed CJ8 frame.

Any of these ideas sound decent, or is it just the pain meds?

My CJ6 ended up quite a bit longer. I moved my rear wheel openings back several inches and you can see that my front wheels are farther forward as well. Look at "building my cj6 to look capable of things it will never do". I made my own rear fenders as well.
