Looks a real cj5 body but, the fuel filler hole has been moved to the rear for a newer jeep and the tailgate is for a newer jeep as well. But, I believe the body to be a n early 60's model. Is there a raised panel on the passenger side of the cowl, on top, big enough to fit a large battery.

Yes, you could use your fenders.

looks like it might be 76 and later cj5 . windshield looks like it leans back . mounting bolt holes will be different , picture of floor and firewall would help . it hard top comes with it , that's a plus

A CJ-5 body from 1955 thorough 1975 will work with some minor modification.

No, I don't think it's '76 or later. The windshield and top may be for a later model, but I don't think so. Get a better picture of the windshield from the front.

I agree with Dave (wheelie). This will work for you. Get the top too.

Yes. May have been covered over during the gas filler mod. Should still be visible from the inside, if it's there. The little flat spot on the cowl for mirror mount (?) gives it away for me, as an early tub. I'd like to see a pic of the dash and the other side of the cowl.

Yes, get the hardtop as well, as stated. If nothing else, you can resell it and perhaps, get some of your money back.

I think the '76 and layer models had a different tail gate and hinge. I think.

Just FYI - nope, only the CJ-7 has the plug tailgate that you are thinking of. The CJ-5 had the same style tailgate to the end. There are other changes for '76 though, besides the windshield. IIRC the top bow notch goes away with that year, which is easy to spot.

Looks to be a later Early model. After '70. Not sure on the 'JEEP' marking. It is in the right spot, and about a hand's width down from that seam, but looks like a stencil instead of the embossing that is there on the body of my '60.
