So my custom braided stainless high pressure line for my power steering gear was leaking at the the gear fitting. I thought it was a bad fitting since I couldn't get it tight, there was still slight movement in the line. I purchased an OEM line and it felt like it was rock solid. I'm still getting a slight dribble from the fitting and I'm worried it will turn into a huge leak when I start the engine. I think there was a change in gear fittings around 1980 from what I'm reading. One style used a flared fitting while the other had an o-ring. Is it possible I have an newer 80s style gear and how do I tell? The only part number I can find is 5689010 and the snout measures 4.25". Any steering experts here know what I have?

Issue has been resolved. Looks like a previous owner swapped out the original steering gear for an 80+ model along with the pump. Bought a new high pressure hose with the o-ring style connector instead of the pre-80 flare. No more leaks. :p
