Distributor installation

    i pulled this out of my other post, because it is really a separate question.
    A thought on distributor installation. I am finding several articles that describe bringing the #1 piston to TDC when replacing a distributor. But, with an offset slot as in the 134, is that nessesary? It seems to me that the distributor shaft will only fit one way period. So no matter the position, can you not just pull the old one out and install the new one in the same orientation? Or am I just not seeing the whole picture?

    If you are only replacing the distributor, then it won't matter as long as you did not remove the plug wires from the cap.
