1971 cj5 gas tank

    Will a 1975 cj5 15 gal gas tank fit in a 1971 cj5? Or will there need to be a modification to make it work? Looks to be in great shape.

    Does the Jeep recieving the tank have a rear tank also?

    You are talking about the 15 gallon rear tank right?

    Late '69 to '75 STOCK rear fuel tanks and skid plates/mounts are interchangeable.

    Vapor recovery vents will be different, 70-72 vs 73-75. Otherwise the same.

    Yes my 1971 came stock with the gas tank in the rear. Thanks for the info.

    I have a '78 in my '70. Had to change the filler tube. My late year '70 came with a rear tank.
