    Hello all,

I managed to install my front leaf springs backwards, and I was wondering if I should switch them back to the proper way or does it not really affect anything?

    Thank you!

This sort of has me scratching my head. I've always installed them as per directions, but it brings up the question does it actually make any difference? If the spring eyes are the same ID on both ends and the spring pins centered, how would swapping ends change anything? I doubt any of the commercial springs with centered pins have any differences in spring rates from front side to back side and on at least most of them, the "rebound clips" are symmetrical.

On my 4inch skyjacker lift, it said the rear springs didn't matter and the front were to be installed a specific way IIRC. So there has to be some kind of logic behind why but I'm with duffer on wondering what the actual difference is. Still I would switch them around.

The only difference would be if the spring clips make contact with the tie rod. The springs themselves won't know which way they are installed.

It can make a difference depending on the orientation/placement of the spring clips to counter spring wrap. If everything is symmetrical, it should not make a difference. But, since the op has given NO information regarding anything...
Plus, if there was no difference how would he know they were installed backwards? :)

Oh Dear....I just installed my front springs...I didn't know there was 2 ways? How would you know the difference?
I had them resprung and the spring shop put bushings in both ends. So I just "picked an end" and pulled one set out.
Hangers to the front. How would I know if I have to re do them??
