I like it! Awesome looking patina. Would almost be worth clear coating it, except for sides having rust holes it looks like. What are your plans for this? Seems pretty stock and unchanged.

the engine is shot and isn't original anyways, so I'm looking to replace it with stock 225 v6 or drop a small block in it. yes if it wasn't for the body rust throughs and bondo it would be a cool idea to put a clear coat on it, but we are going to keep it the stock blue. I'm wanting to keep the exterior mostly stock looking, but defiantly going to upgrade brakes and suspension.

From the looks of that Radiator grill shell , cut back the way it is , someone may have already had a V8 in there at one time. ( I have a 65 CJ the same color)

I finally got it out of the woods and under roof. Before I could start the assessment of rust damage i scooped over 30 gallons of organic debris out of it. The bed floor is totally rusted, but other than that there is only small spots of total rust out. I was wondering if there is a way to relocate the fuel tank, since it is currently located as the drivers seat support.

70 1/2 and 71 ecj5s have the tank mounted at the rear, under the bed. You could do this fairly easily when the time comes. The V shaped brace on the frame, attached to the towing bracket in the center of the rear bumper needs to be removed, find or make mounting brackets and the tank, and cut a new hole for the filler tube.

it was my wifes uncle's and for as long as I have known her it sat in a woods row just sitting. we asked about it and he kept saying he was going to restore it for his daughter, but we all knew that wasnt going to happen. long story short he finally gave it to me to restore. this weekend I am going to work on it and try to get the front end off and possibly the tub free so i can really assess the damage from sitting in the woods row.

Those two holes below the Jeep stamp indicate it had a V6 badge on that tub.

yea the Vin Code said it had a 225 v6 originally, one of the previous owners put that 4cyl in just to keep it on the road I guess. I would like to be able to find a v6 reasonably or second choice would be a small block. since the engine is seized

Battery mount says V6 too - a 4cyl would have had it on the passenger side frame rail close to the grille.
