Hey Pierre, If you are on the ball enough to take the trans out, fix it, and put it back in you won't have ANY problems changing a clutch. It isn't like building a piano. The only barely tricky things to it are aligning the pressure plate with the pilot bearing, and your clutch kit will come with a little plastic dummy shaft to take the guess work out of that, and making sure that you don't put the pressure plate on backwards. Make the call on the flywheel once you can see it.

Thank you for all the encouraging words...

I'll deal with the worn out brake pedal/brake pedal shaft first as I'm getting concerned with safety in an emergency stop (way to much floppiness). I'll keep reading and work out a plan in my head - I will also pick up a transmission jack and tackle the work myself after my daughter's visit... I bought the jeep to learn and as a hobby so even if its sitting for a few days until the parts comes in or till I figure out what to do next its no big deal.

Back to the original puddle. Are you absolutely sure it is gear lube? The sniff test is all that is really needed. It could be the engine rear main seal that is the source and that can usually be fixed without pulling anything but the engine pan and rear main cap, along with loosing the other main caps a bit. My experience with T90's is that while they may seep a little, they rarely leak enough through the front to make a puddle.

It's not a conversion kit- you simple replace the input bearing with a version that is permanently lubricated, i.e. has the plastic disks instead of an open race. The sealed bearing p/n is SKF---6208-2RSNRJ/EM which will be obtainable from any bearing supply place. Google "Rick Stivers T90 rebuild guide" for details or use the search function here with something like "T90 AND sealed AND bearing".
