Trying to find one that will work with my Dauntless. Also interested in plumbing in an oil cooler.

    Any sources would be helpful.

    Thanks!

Supertrooper - Thanks. I looked at those, but couldn't determine whether they would fit my 225. I'll order one.

Due to the inherent normally low oil pressure found on these Buick V-6's I would not think it's a good Idea to remote the oil filter...........more distance , more resistance & drag to return the oil back to the pump and oil galley's .........just my $.002.

Good thought. I guess if I want to go remote I should install high volume gears in the pump?

I would at least understand and address that issue so you know what to expect..........the taller HV gears are a good Idea but most times it can also be the front cover that has excessive wear or clearance that kills the oil pressure as it leaks around the gears inside the case cavity.......the subject by itself is quite broad on V6 oiling......talk to T.A. Performance in Arizona about V6 oiling.

Thanks. The engine is a new rebuild that I bought from a member here. It is going to my engine builder for a tear down and checkout before I run it. I was thinking I could get more clean, cooled oil with a remote filter and cooler.

I am familiar with TA Performance, recently talked to them about carb fitment.

    Thanks again.

Why do you think you need an engine oil cooler on a anything but a race car? Will you be racing this engine? For an engine in good condition being run under everyday conditions, the factory oiling system should be more than adequate.

I believe these remote oil filters are mostly targeted at applications (ie engine swaps) where the factory oil filter interferes with some other part of the car. Adding an external engine oil cooler is strictly race car tech, AFAIK. Unless you have some kind of wild-a high combustion temperatures or extreme connecting rod velocities, the engine oil should be fine at normal operating temperature... I'd think.

If your concerned about temperature & more oil volume , I think this is a much better approach if your running headers and have the room on the left side of the motor............This is a 225 V6 oil pan I built many years ago that adds about 2 quarts of oil to the system. In the second picture inside the pan I added a trap to keep oil around the oil pickup when running off camber while off road. ..........also if you notice the external section is only open to the main pan via series of holes which contains the oil and does not allow the oil to run away from the pickup or slosh in the pan...........the larger volume and more sq.inches of sheet metal area getting to ambient outside temperature naturally cools the oil as will as the increase in volume..........works for me!

That looks like a good solution. I am running headers that hug the block - I do not think I can get room on either side for the tank extension, but I like the trap around the pump. What is the diameter and distance from the bottom of the pan to the top of the trap? I assume you are using the factory oil pick-up?

    Thanks again.
