Hi guys, new on here, but not to jeeps. Had a 77 CJ7 back in my Corps days, now I have a 75 CJ5. Funny things is, both have/had been painted black, and you can poke your finger through most of the body. Anyways, the po went wild with his welder, mounted another make of bucket seats and pretty much just welded where they touched. Does anyone know where I can get the stock front seat mounts, or can they be updated to 76 and later style?:?
    Thanks

The seat mount design for '76 and later is completely different from the '72-75 models. The tool box is not compatible with the '76 and later style of mount.

You could remove the tool box and then the '76 and later seas would probably fit ... but the tool box is a neat feature that you may want to keep.

Note that the '72-75 driver's position is different from earlier Jeeps, so you really need the '72-75 setup unless you want to make a lot of changes.

Your best bet is to look for a parts Jeep or a wreck from that period, and take what you need. Aftermarket support for the '72-75 era is quite limited. Also post WTB ads on all the Jeep forums.
