    My first post!
Digging into my 69 CJ5. Needs a rear main seal for sure. Question is, if my motor mounts are shot I would just as soon go ahead and pull the motor to make rear seal easier and hit motor mounts at same time, but how do I know if I need them?
Also, I am a huge fan of companies like energy suspension, does anyone know if there is a company out there like energy suspension making upgraded motor mounts for my application?
If not, where to buy oem replacement mounts?
    Thanks!

You mean the insulators, right? The odd-fire V6 shakes a lot at idle, and the rubber is soft to compensate some. Urethane will transfer a lot more shake to the frame in this case. I'd stay with the rubber factory-style part. Your local parts store or RockAuto.com.

I would replace the engine insulators and the transmission mount insulator at the same time. You may need to go with one of the Jeep retailers for the transmission rubber, though RockAuto undoubtedly has it if you get the right part.

If you want to "improve" the factory style mounts, rig something that limits how far the rubber can stretch. This is sometimes done with a through-bolt left loose, or a piece of chain. Hot rodders have been doing this since forever to prevent broken insulators.

Note there is a sticky thread at the top of the forum "Where to buy parts."

Right on! Thanks for the info. Gonna hit up a local part supplier at lunch. Rear main seal this holiday weekend. Fun, right?

Napa auto parts sells a rubber isolated motor mount for the odd-fire V6 that has interlocking steel members to prevent complete separation if the rubber fails. Ask for mounts for a '76 Buick Skylark with the 231 V6. Napa doesn't list the mounts for Jeep CJ5 with the V6 in their computerized inventory system.
Make sure you get a left and right side, they are not the same. Some vendors will try and tell you they are the same but they are slightly different.

If you get them switched it will make the engine sit crooked. The mounts should be marked "L" and "R".
