    M38A1 switch on dash? I have not tried it yet, just wondering what it is?

    Not stock. Usually that location has a pull-cable to activate before swimming.
    The picture shows something which looks more like a battery disconnect, but it's anyone's guess until you look behind the dash.

    Also, the military M38A1 has a switch similar to that for the ignition, not a key. Starter is a floor button.
