I've now read conflicting reports on MSD 6 ignition on the F-Head. First of all, I don't want to go down the bunny trail of why I want to install it... let's just say I really do want it. Ok, who has actually put this on the 4 banger before? Any thoughts, comments, concerns?

I've got the F-134, magnetic pickup distributor, external voltage regulator, and a master blaster coil.

I've had no issues installing a CDI-type ignition onto the F-head motor. You simply follow MSD's wiring instructions for your specific type of distributor, and then by magic, it works. If you haven't done so already, don't forget to pick up a set of helically-wound plug wires. The CDI box won't work with regular spark plug wires. You can also open up the gap on the plugs with the MSD 6 for a bigger spark, since it pushes more electrons through the plugs.

From my experience, an MSD ignition greatly improves starting and engine smoothness. It doesn't seem to make it more powerful ... how you tune your engine has a much more significant effect (at least it does on mine,) though the upgraded ignition does appear to make working out the rest of the engine tuning easier.
