Can anyone post some pics of their 225 alternator brackets? Ideally, I'd to see a pic with the alternator mounted on the engine, and a pic of just the brackets off the motor.
    Thanks.

    Here's a cloudy one....not really much of a bracket...just a slide thingamajig and a bolt with a spacer.

Sure wish I had one of the brackets like's supposed to be.

    lincleil,

If you will go to the e-bay spot on the forum and click on the nos 225 engine, there is a good picture of an alternator bracket in a picture at trhe bottom of the page. hope this helps.

nice, between the picture vanguard posted of the top bracket and the picture montana and sparky posted of the lower bracket, i think i have a pretty good idea.
Nickmil, if you have a shot of the bracket(s) off the motor, i'd like to see that too if possible.
    thanks everyone.

Linc - you trying to see if it will fit your 215? If so, go to the junk yard and pick one up for a 231. Should be the same (like I told you - the one on the 198 is the same as the ones on my 225's). The yards here will let you return in 14 days if it don't fit. See if that helps.

You got it Chuck. The one junkyard around here that used to let people wander around and pick & pull doesnt let people do it anymore because of liability reasons. i figure if the 198 has the same brackets as the 225, then so should the 215 - since the 215 and the 198 were both only made from 61-63 and they were both used in the same cars, with the 198 standard and the 215 optional. with the pics that have been posted, i will try to visually deduct whether or not the 225/198 brackets will fit my 215.

Let me know and I will take some pics of the mounting brackets I have... I can take them from 225's and 231's as I have both engines here to snap from.

Also if you want some measurements with the pics I'll get them for you too.

thanks for all the help guys. it doesn't look like it'll work on my 215. i talked with a few buick guys and they said the only thing that'll work are the brackets from a 1963 215 motor (the 61 & 62's used a generator, and thats what I got). If I can't find one, theres a place called D&D Fabrications that deals specifically with this motor and sells all sorts of custom stuff for it. they want $80 for their custom brackets. more than i'd like to spend on alternator brackets. worst comes to worst, thats my last resort...

    Sold! You take pay pal?

If so...give me your addy and I'll just fight with my wife about it later.

I suppose I should say though, that the PO told me something about him having converted my alternator to a one wire alternator. I have no idea what that means, but if I'm buying a bracket that's supposed to work with the Dauntless Alternator, what are the chances that this one wire alternator conversion resulted in a different alternator...one that won't work with this bracket?

Regardless...I still want the bracket. If it don't work I'll just put it on the shelf.
