For those that haven't seen my post....I have a 62 CJ5 that was modified before I bought it to run a M151 military engine. One of my biggest issues with it was the sidedraft carb. I just never could get the idle or performance I wanted it to have. I have a F134 engine set aside and it has the Carter YF on it. I decided to have a friend with the welding equipment available make me an adapter and put the Carter on the M151 engine. The adapter works well and the carb has certainly improved my idle and performance. I still have to work out the breather but the breather cap from the f134 does fit and the hood will close but as the pictures show, it's close. Anyway, here's some pics of the carb mounted on the M151.

Looks good deputy...fabricating parts to make things work/work better is a very satisfying endeavor.

This Jeep has had a lot of fab work and mods but it really is only getting better.

Not knocking it, but that 90 degree angle will have a bit of a negative effect that close to the carb. your fuel will tend to come out of the airstream at the 90.. May not be enough to notice though, but hey, if it is an improvement over the old one.. good call!

I was thinking that, too. It would be better to have a smooth radius bend rather than that 90.
But, again, if it works, run it!

Never can tell. It may provide exactly the secondary mixing you need at exactly that point in the power curve. This ain't drag racing.

unfortunately a bent pipe was not an option due to height restrictions. The attempt to use a smooth bent pipe left the carb setting to high. I'm not really seeing any mixing issues. The only side effect I've noticed is icing around the adapter until the engine is warm, then condensation. Doesn't seem to effect performance...so far.

That's cool.. I'd say there is some good flow/vacuum going on there..

I, for one applaud your efforts...it may not have been the way I would have gone, but that doesn't mean my way would have been better...good work deputy...especially since you got it running & idling better than it was before.

Scott have you thought of some strap bracing? That looks like a lot of weight hanging out to vibrate and cause creaks in your new manifold.

    Just a thought...

    Good solution.

Actually I've thought of it, just haven't quite got it fabbed out in my head yet to make it work......I should probably take a day off hunting and do that.....but it's hard when I haven't got this seasons first kill yet....
