I'm putting my shifter back together and I'm trying to figure out if I'm missing something. The shifter diagram shows the interlock plunger being installed between the two rails. (pic 1)

My issue is, I noticed the hole opposite of it (pic2) has a spring inside of it. Is there supposed to be another ball in there? The rebuild kit only came with two springs and the two detent balls. All the diagrams I can find show no reference to this mystery hole or any additional parts.

If you are referring to the spring shown in the first pic, yes, a detent ball should go there. I can't see what you are talking about in the second pic on my phone. I'm guessing you mean the machined hole opposite the interlock that goes between the shift rails? If so there should be no spring there. That is a machined hole simply for production machining purposes. If you look on the outside of the housing there is probably a plug there.

I figured it out late last night. When I put one of those detent balls in there to see if it could fit, it pushed back like there was a spring in there. Turns out it was just packed with oil making it feel like a spring. I put everything back together the way I found it and the transmission shifts through all gears just fine. Thanks for the reassurance.
