Hey there everyone. I m doing another 231 swap and getting pretty good at it..a couple hours re-and re engines. Anyways this most recent donor engine maybe 1985/86 has what appears to be a two barrel quad jet, with a one wire electric choke. I saw it running but i did not tag where all wires went to (slacker)!!! Anyone know where electric choke wire goes to???? As well, theres a couple other wires off diaphrams of carb.... could these have controlled the old auto tranns???
    LOL Thanks J

I already miss the simplicity of the 2g!!!!

Those years would most likely be the e2me or similar Dualjet carb. Iirc this would be the computer controlled carb with a mixture control solenoid. Not a good choice for a stand alone engine. Look at the distributor as well. If it does not have a vacuum advance canister with a vacuum hose going to it same issue. The carb and distributor can be replaced with non computer-controlled units from a '79-'80 231/252 Buick V-6.

Hey nickmil thanks for getting back!!!! After chasing the cut wiring harness looks like the engine/carb came from a non ecu car, i guess that older guys monte carlo was even older then i thought!!!!. Anyways there is a vacuum advance diaphram and a line to base of carb and pink wire off dizzy to the run of ign... a momentary lead to starter and the charging cct wirring and etc. hey and chance you have encountered this heating element under carb and how does it work with the electric choke.... the 80s and its crude attemps to make cars more emission friendly LOL
    Thanks man jesse

Ditch the under carb heating element as they were always problematic. Most I encountered were on 2.8 V-6's but all were notoriously problematic. If your carb choke comes off with power hook to the alternator output circuit or ignition hot (run) circuit.
I'd have to review how it works and would need more accurate year but '80-'81 was the most commonly switched to the computer controls on Federal vehicles. California emissions vehicles were '79 and possibly late '78. Hard for me to pin down exact as we were Federal emissions, not California. My '80 231 from a Chev Monza with manual trans was non computerized. This is what I have in the '59 CJ-5.
