Anybody know where to buy spring plates for 71 to 75 Cj5s? They sell the skid plates ones but I can't find stock looking ones. Thanks.

'71 is not the same as '72-75. The main difference is the shock location changes to behind the axle in '72.

This has been covered in earlier posts. I recall that R&P Jeep was making them, and maybe member McRuff was too.

Do you have any plates now, and if so what is wrong with them? I'd suggest you take them to a local shop and have new shock pins welded on, if that's the problem.

Search old posts - you should be able to find lots of discussion.

I am putting a 1974 CJ5 running gear in my CJ3A. The plates I took out of the 74 wear really in bad shape and I took them to the scrap yard by mistake. I'll check R&P. Thanks

Contact member McRuff for the plates. I checked R&P's plates and they are making them more generic now. They would work fine for the rear or if your shock mounts are behind the axle but if you want to keep the shock to the front they won't work. Theirs pushes the shock too close to the tie rod and drag link with the shock ahead of the axle. When you turn the rods hit the shock.
