Loose Lug Studs

    As Pete said, it's the getting it off part I'm worried about.

    Are there any concerns with hot working the hubs? Other than being more brittle? The hub will be vertical loads from road bumps

    Yep for my 1970, the drums are mounted outboard of the hub - squeezed between the wheel and the hub when tightened. The drum will lightly bind to the stud - sometime needs a little love tap to knock it off the hub.

    I agree with the concern of getting the wheel off if the studs spin - I had a lot of difficulty with that! If you can somehow pull on the lug nut hard as your spinning it off, sometimes the binding grooves on the head of the stud will bite enough to get it to stop spinning.

    I gotta agree with Howard. I have an old trailer that had the same issue with one stud, It wouldn't turn but wouldn't fit tight either. A little JB weld - bolt the wheel on and let it set - it's just as tight as the rest of them now. Wouldn't do that if it wanted to spin and the splines wern't holding.
