Yes, I know it's not period correct (but neither are many things on my 5), will an M38 headlight guard properly fit over my CJ5 headlights? I'm not sure if the M38 sealed beam lights are the same size, or the better question is whether the bezel/pocket is a different size.

I tried google and forums... gotta believe that I'm not the only person who wants to try this?

I like the mesh guards better personally, but aren't the M38 guards just a piece of metal the cover the light? Might be something that could be fabbed.

Agh! I knew someone would bring that up - yes, I suppose I could take the time to work my own up. Especially given the prices I'm seeing on the ol interweb. But nonetheless, I just gotta know if they'll work.

Personally, the single wire look is kinda cool to me. But I hear ya'

Another question might be, have you ever broken a headlight? And if so would a single strap of metal like the M38 guard have prevented it?

I think he's talking more about the look than anything else.

I like the look of the mesh because I see some far flying rocks on the trail every once and a while.

Is there a repro ring that could be modified?

I wouldn't trust it to save my light worth a darn; yes, it would be just for looks.

Still no answer to the question. I can't answer it either but, I'm with the OP in liking the single wire guard look. Sorry I can't be of more help.

So the M606 is essentially a cj5 grill?

How 'bout this, can anyone go out and measure the distance that the one wire guard spans?

"I suppose I could take the time to work my own up. "

They are just some round rod with the ends pounded flat and bent 90ยบ. At $50 a piece for re-pops, I'd say make your own, and fit them to suit.

the one dimention the drawing doesnt tell is the width hole to hole. According to the graph paper its 10.5" and that seems right to me. any opinions on this? A few other dimentions I found. 5/16" round bar 1.312 from headlight depending on adjustment 3.75" total height.

According to a Kaiser Willys posting I found, they claim it's 10.25" centered. I specifically asked them if it would fit a '62 CJ5 and the reply I got is "Im sure they could be made to fit." Somehow that doesn't seem like a good enough answer, given that they're "experts" and all. This forum has better explanations than anywhere else on the 'ol interwebs.

    Thanks all!
