Hi, I wanted to remove the warn locking hubs from a 1974 jeep and place them on my 1971. The warns came off the 74 with no problem but I cannot get the stockers off the 71 - does someone want to lend some instructions ?

    Pictures would help.

It depends on the hubs that you are using and how far you have or have not removed them.

Mmm. Spline count of a '71 the same as a '74? Those are 30 spline.

There should be a snap ring on the end of the axle. Did the '74 have snap rings? Maybe the '71 does and the '74 does not. The snap rings should be there, but many leave them out.

The '71 should have a Dana 27 front axle which would have 10 spline outer and in er axle shafts. The '74 would be a 30 front axle which has 27 spline inner and outer axle shafts. Hubs will not swap without changing the drive gear inside the hub.
What kind of hubs are you trying to remove? Some have different procedures of removal from others (brands/designs).

Also, the '71 did not come from the factory with locking hubs although they may be dealer installed. Again, we need to know what kind of hubs you are trying to remove.
